Making Hay - 2004
Curlies Austria hay-making old fashioned style!
Our friends and relatives helped us make hay this year!
This year everyone in our region had problems with the hay crop! It rained most of the summer and
there were only a couple of days where the rain stopped and hay could be made. We want to share
some impressions of hay-making here, and also want to thank all the people who helped bringing
in our hay! All together, about 30 people were involved at one stage or another and we accumulated about
20 tonnes of hay for the winter. We're throwing
a big party as thanks!
Alex is the man! He's the one with the tractor that has a mower!
Thomas and Max say, you want me to do what with this hay???
Karl teaches Erwin how to work the grappler!
Our beautiful rows of hay nearing sunset. The guys work like crazy to get
the hay in before the storm comes. We just barely made it!
Thomas loves tractor driving! Brrmm...brmmm....
Brmm...brmm...putt...putt...goes the 1961 tractor.
Alex works furiously to bring in the hay!
Schachi grabs the grappler to bring it into position. The grappler has big jaws and
teeth and grabs a huge ball of hay, then lifts it into the rafters where it then
travels along a track and then released the hay up above!
The 1961 tractor in all it's glory...
and it's 1963 brother that lives by Moosmann!
Karen on the Moosmann tractor turning the hay! Notice that dust mask! Hay dust
is bad for asthmatics!
