Picture Day - Autumn 2007

We've been busy, and took some pictures to show you!

Wonderful Autumn weather allowed us to keep training those horses, and we thought we'd share. And, look at some surprises too!

It's been lovely lately, with warm Autumn weather. The flies are gone, and it's cool at night, but in the day the temperatures are just right for working the horses. Not only that, the babies are getting bigger, and we thought we'd start sharing some new images of everyone! So please enjoy.

Our friend Marion poses with *Kachina Doll who has been in training under saddle!

Marion and *Kachina Doll enjoy a funny moment! *Kachina wonders what is going on!

Erwin takes a moment to show off *Kachina Doll's size. She's smaller than a horse, but bigger than a pony.

*Jay Myr Pepperoni poses for the camera, aren't I sexy?

And wouldn't you just die to have my blue eyes and matching halter, I just know you would!

Jay Myr says, Look at me and mom! (Magic)

Our young colt Rocky, or by his real name *Poplar's Comanche Knight! We often call him Rocket Man. However you call him, this boy is big, he is nearly twice the size at a year and a half as Billy Jack was with the same age! We're thinking of calling him "Knight" in the future, because he thinks he's Rocky Balboa and should box his way out to pasture! Just kidding, with Karen he's a good boy!

Karen is about 5 feet 2 inches tall. We guess that Rocky will be nearly as tall as Rescue Me. He is already taller than Lark in the hind end (Lark is 147 cm).

*Peppermint Twist has been working on her training too. Chistine, our assistant, is learning to work the horses in the roundpen, and *Pepper was on today! Christine is helping out daily, and is the one taking pictures today! Here you see *Pepper practicing her turns with Karen. She's doing very well, and will soon be ready for riding out.

*Jo Jo is just about everyone's favourite. And, she's expecting a foal for next year. In the mean time, she's been learning to be ridden, and is a very good girl about it. Although *Jo Jo is very Arabian in temperment, looks and attitude tempered by the playfulness and stubborness of the Curlies, *Jo Jo is being a fantastic mount. She is very careful with what she does when a rider is on board. As you can see, Karen is just thrilled and enjoying herself too!

Jo Jo working her paces, she's turning left and right and works in the walk and trot using voice commands. What a lovely mare!

The end of a wonderful Autumn day! Jo Jo and Karen both pleased with themselves after Jo Jo's training. Karen is working about 6 hours in the saddle a day with all the horses to get them saddle trained or excercised. The day isn't actually done in this picture, as Karen goes out on ride with Marion who shows up with her Appaloosa gelding for a ride out! Hopping on Rescue Me to get her back in shape, Karen and Marion go for an evening ride just finishing before the sun sets!

If this wasn't quite enough for you, stay tuned for more pictures, this time the stallions will be on!
